A Postscript on Rocks

The names I have listed here are the main rocks, sloughs, bays, islets and creeks found between Findon Ness and Downies Haven only. I’m sure that if I was to jump back a century or two I would have discovered more and different names for these and other landmarks in the area.

These are not the only exclusive names there are in our area and there are other ones to both the north and south and out with the boundary I have set myself here. To the north of Findon Ness you’ll find places such as Kay Hole, Earnsheugh, Partan Skelly, Clashrodney, Burn o’ Dinie and Blow Up Nose. To the south of Downies you will find Kail Pots, Burn o’ Daff, Coble Boards, Rams Hall, Craig Stirling, The Lions Heid, and probably a lot more besides.

As I’m trying to cover the Portlethen coastal area only I’ll let someone else think about introducing you to those other places and they can give you their take on what’s what and where’s where.
