The next major landmark to the southwest of Findon Ness
is Doo Cove, still an impressive landmark yet not quite as high or
dramatic as the aforementioned cave. Birds do nest on these cliffs and I
imagine the name “Doo” comes from the sea pigeons who favour this area,
these rock pigeons tend to nest on darkened rock ledges and cliffs and Doo Cove is well suited for this, being sheltered from the sun for all
but the morning hours.
