This is a small headland at the south side of Downies
Haven and creates some shelter from south easterly gales and prevents
the seas from battering directly into the shore.
There is also a fishing ground directly off the headland
known as the Berrymuir (pronounced Berry-Meer) although it’s not a tried
and tested ground like Findon Ness or the Back of the Ron, and as a
result, I can’t comment on what you are likely to catch here or how
plentiful the catches could be. I do see the angling boats stopping here
from time to time at the weekends but they don’t appear to stay too long
before making their way onwards to the "Back of the Ron".
