A Postscript on Rocks

This slough has two names and basically they both mean the same thing. Black Slough is another inlet that runs east to west and is of similar length to the nearby Peel Slough. I guess the name has something to do with the fact that it’s almost in shade the whole day apart from a few hours of sunshine in the early morning and the “walls” at the south side of the slough are very dark and “black” so this could be the source of the name. Not a very exciting name and I prefer the “Sloughy Black Dykes” – much more local personality in that one.
