There are lots of other amusing superstitions out there, and although some of these may not apply to our local fishing villages I still thought it was worth mentioning a few of them on these next few pages.

The Evils of the Banana. There are lots of theories about why having bananas onboard is unlucky; they might hide poisonous spiders, they might ferment and create methane gas, early boats carrying cargoes of bananas sank a lot!
